Artist Statement
I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in Liverpool UK. I use everyday objects (collected and found) that are often gender specific, and I repurpose them into new images through sculptural collage, installation, photography and text. My work is constructed with a punky, schoolgirl aesthetic that gives authority to the handmade and the low-tech. These processes enable me to explore intimate subjects such as labour, class, gender, relationships, and neuro-divergence through craft-based DIY approaches and methods of making. My making ranges between but is not limited to, drawing, collage, text, video, textiles, installation, sculpture and photography. I also have curatorial experience and have curated both my own work and collaborative exhibitions. Most recently in December 2020, I was awarded funding by the Bootle Festival of Ideas and MAKE Liverpool to publish a quarterly zine, and I will be receiving ongoing support from these organisations to open a multifunctional arts space and zine library here in Liverpool.
